A drug called Midazolam has revolutionalised treatment for patients suffering from Dental Phobias. The drug is administered intravenously and takes the patient to a state of "wakeful sleepiness" where they are still able to open their mouths and respond to commands but their "psyche" enters such a relaxed state that they are prepared to accept treatment that they would normally find so traumatic. Midazolam has a powerful amnesic element and a few hours later, patients often cannot remember having the treatment.
